Introduction:

Veterinary science is a continuously evolving field requiring continuous upgradation of professional knowledge and enhancement of skills to keep pace with the fast-emerging technological advancements. The training and skill enhancement of human resource engaged in veterinary services is very important to provide better, efficient, and competent professional services to animal owners.

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy, M.P. has established the State Animal Husbandry Training Institute (SAHTI) at Vaishali Nagar, Bhopal, as an apex institute aimed at skill up-gradation of veterinarians & para-vets and updating knowledge of farmers and rural youth for better livestock management. The Institute was previously established in 1977 as Artificial Insemination (AI) Training Institute, which was upgraded as SAHTI on 22nd October 2020.

Objectives of SAHTI:

1. To upgrade the professional knowledge and skills of Veterinarians and Para-Vets to keep pace with the fast-emerging technological advancements in the animal husbandry sector.

2. To impart basic training to farmers for Dairy, Goat rearing, Piggery, and poultry and to update them on advancements in livestock production and farm management.

3. To promote rural youth to establish livestock-based ventures/businesses to improve their livelihood.
